Baku:Central Azeri: BP has successfully completed the Central Azeri Gas Expansion (CAGE) project, boosting gas reinjection capacity on the Central Azeri platform by 20 percent to enhance recovery from existing wells.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the project began offshore execution in January 2026 and was finished safely and ahead of schedule in September. It involved upgrading the platform’s four gas injection compressors, which included replacing compressor cartridges and auxiliary equipment. The work was conducted during live platform operations without requiring a plant outage or additional flaring.
Modifications were also made to the compressor suction manifold piping to support the increased gas injection capacity and improve operational flexibility. These changes were implemented during the Central Azeri platform’s planned maintenance program in August, with all post-modification activities completed shortly thereafter.
The CAGE project aims to strengthen reservoir management, support efforts to maximize recovery, and sustain long-term production from the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli field.
