Birbank Launches New Feature to Simplify Public Transport Expense Tracking

Baku: Birbank, Azerbaijan’s pioneering digital bank, has unveiled a new feature designed to enhance the transparency and convenience of monitoring public transport expenses for its users. The feature allows customers to track their spending in detail when using contactless NFC payments for public transport.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, users can now access the ‘History’ section in the Birbank mobile app to view specific details such as the route number, metro station name, and travel date. This functionality aids in identifying the exact journey a charge pertains to, especially in instances of delayed transactions, providing users with an electronic receipt for complete transparency.

This new feature is accessible to all Birbank users and is compatible with NFC-enabled bank card payments. Thanks to technological advancements introduced by Birbank last year, contactless payments are now available across all bus routes in Baku, including those of ‘Baku Bus’ LLC, and at every station of ‘Baki Metropoliteni’ CJSC. Implemented in collaboration with ‘K Group’ LLC, this integration forms a unified open payment system for urban transport involving cards from all local banks.

Moreover, the technical aspects of fare payments, such as NFC and QR-based transactions, are managed by ‘Baki Metropoliteni’ and the ‘BakiKart’ system. Birbank is responsible for processing the deduction of funds based on the transaction data provided. Customers with inquiries are advised to contact ‘BakiKart’ support for further assistance.
