Baku: Azerbaijan and San Marino are exploring avenues to deepen their cooperation in the sectors of renewable energy and natural gas supply. On May 7, a significant meeting took place between Rovshan Najaf, President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), and San Marino’s Marco Gatti, Minister of Finance, Budget, Transport and Energy, alongside Alessandro Bevitori, Minister of Labor, Economic Planning, Relations with AASS, Ecological Transition and Technological Innovation.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the meeting underscored Azerbaijan’s increasing influence in securing energy supplies for Europe, with particular emphasis on the Southern Gas Corridor. Currently, Azerbaijani natural gas is being exported to 16 countries, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s energy export strategy.
The discussions also included briefings for the Sammarinese officials on SOCAR’s green energy initiatives and the activities of SOCAR Green. The parties shared perspectives on enhancing collaboration in various segments of the energy sector, focusing on natural gas supply, renewable energy, and decarbonization. Other mutual interests were also deliberated upon, paving the way for future cooperation between the two nations.
