Baku:Baku Steel Company CJSC (BSC) has launched the ‘Baku Steel Art 2026’ exhibition in Baku, featuring steel sculptures inspired by the ‘Big Five’ wildlife of the Caucasus. Located next to the Stone Chronicle Museum in Seaside National Park, this open-air exhibition will be available for public viewing until the end of November.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the exhibition showcases creations from the third International Metal Symposium, ‘Baku Steel Art 2026,’ organized by BSC with support from QGallery. The symposium gathered 14 artists from countries including Azerbaijan, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine, and Estonia, who collaborated over two weeks at BSC’s production site to create sculptural compositions using the company’s steel products.
The ‘Big Five’ includes the goitered gazelle, Caucasian leopard, brown bear, grey wolf, and imperial eagle, with the artists using these forms to explore the interaction between humans and nature. The exhibition emphasizes the contrast between the strength of steel and the fragility of the natural environment, encouraging viewers to contemplate biodiversity protection.
The exhibition was inaugurated as part of the ‘Fly to Baku. Art Weekend. Sense the Future NOW’ festival, held from October 30 to November 1, 2026. The opening ceremony was attended by notable figures including Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and founder of IDEA Public Union, along with Arzu Aliyeva, head of Baku Media Center, and Alena Aliyeva, as well as participants and visitors. The event highlighted the synergy between BSC’s metallurgical expertise and artistic creativity, integrating industrial materials into Baku’s cultural scene.
The Baku Steel Art symposia have taken place since 2024, reflecting the ongoing collaboration between industry and art, with the steel sculptures adding a unique cultural dimension to the city.
