Baku: Baku Shipyard LLC and KTZ Express Shipping, a subsidiary of Kazakhstan’s Samruk-Kazyna JSC, have signed an agreement to cooperate in the shipbuilding sector. According to the document, the partnership entails the construction of two dry cargo vessels designed in accordance with modern international standards.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Shahin Babayev, Executive Director of AZCON Holding, stated that expanding cooperation with international partners is a strategic priority for the holding. He noted that the project is of significant importance both as a demonstration of current technological capabilities and as a milestone for the development of Azerbaijan’s shipbuilding industry. “We believe this cooperation will establish a solid foundation for successful new projects in the future,” he emphasized.
Nurlan Zhakupov, Chairman of the Management Board of Samruk-Kazyna JSC, noted that the development of maritime infrastructure is an integral component of Kazakhstan’s consistent policy to enhance its transit potential. According to him, the formation of a dedicated fleet for “Kazakhstan Temir Jolu” JSC (KTJ) strengthens the stability of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), expands cargo transportation capacity, and creates additional opportunities to engage international partners.
This partnership holds strategic significance as cargo volumes continue to grow along the Middle Corridor. The project is expected to not only accelerate the growth of the domestic shipbuilding industry but also boost the plant’s production capacity and global competitiveness.
With this agreement, the total number of vessels built at the shipyard based on international orders has reached four. This trend underscores the plant’s rising reputation in the global market and further solidifies its position as a reliable international partner.
