Yerevan:Nasimi Musayev, a serviceman from the Azerbaijan Army, currently detained in Armenia, reportedly did not intend to harm anyone, according to recent statements from Armenian authorities.
According to Azeri-Press news agency, the Chairman of Armenia’s Investigative Committee, Artur Poghosyan, indicated that Musayev was interrogated and provided testimony. Poghosyan explained that the serviceman became disoriented due to fog, leading to his unintentional crossing into Armenian territory. While Poghosyan refrained from divulging further details due to the ongoing investigation, he mentioned that Musayev entered a house to find food and clothing after losing his way.
Poghosyan further detailed that Musayev broke into the house, prepared food for himself, and changed clothes. When children arrived at the scene, he took their phone and instructed them to remain seated but did not inflict any harm on them.
Reports from the Press Service of the Prosecutor General’s Office disclosed that Musayev, who was serving compulsory active military duty in a unit near Azerbaijan’s Lachin district, was reported missing. On September 26, 2026, a search was initiated after his absence from the military unit was noted, and his location was unknown. The necessary search operations were conducted by the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
An inquiry by the Military Prosecutor’s Office revealed reasonable suspicion that Musayev left his military post without authorization. Following these developments, an Armenian court ordered his arrest.
