Azerbaijani President Highlights Social and Investment-Oriented Policy

Baku: ‘Our entire policy is both socially and investment-oriented. There must be a very delicate balance, an equilibrium between the two,’ President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev stated during an interview with local television channels on January 5.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, President Aliyev discussed how Azerbaijan’s economic reforms and oil and gas projects have primarily directed revenues into the social sphere. He noted that during the occupation, significant expenses were related to the military, education, and support for internally displaced persons. Over 300,000 internally displaced persons were provided with new housing, and more than 100 settlements were constructed.

The President also mentioned efforts to address past violations and injustices by establishing a transparent mechanism, which has enabled the implementation of several major social reform packages. In the past seven years, five social reform packages have been executed, benefiting 4 million people and amounting to approximately 8 billion manats.
