Azerbaijani MP Azer Badamov Detained and Deported from Moscow Airport

Moscow: Azerbaijani MP Azer Badamov was detained at the Moscow airport and subsequently deported while en route to the Astrakhan region of Russia for events commemorating the birth anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev. The trip was organized by the Absheron District Executive Power at the invitation of the Russian side.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, MP Azer Badamov, a member of the Azerbaijani delegation, was informed at the airport that he was prohibited from entering Russia. Although no specific reason was provided, it is believed that the ban is linked to his activities. The incident has led to speculation that the Russian authorities blacklisted Badamov following statements by Valueva, who made remarks perceived as insulting to Azerbaijan and its people.

The situation highlights a growing pattern of discriminatory and racially motivated decisions in Russia, particularly affecting citizens from CIS countries. There have also been reports of cyber attacks targeting Azerbaijan, further straining relations. Azer Badamov is currently in transit back to Azerbaijan.
