Sumgayit:Baku Azerbaijani citizen Elmir Elkhan oglu Nuriyev, wanted for fraud, is set to be extradited from Germany following successful negotiations between Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General’s Office and the Federal Office of Justice of Germany. Documents required under international procedures were submitted, leading to the agreement on Nuriyev’s extradition.
According to Azeri-Press news agency, Elmir Nuriyev is suspected of committing fraud while posing as a company director. He allegedly deceived individuals by making false promises to renovate their apartments, resulting in significant financial losses for the victims. A criminal case was initiated by the Sumgayit City Police Department, leading to Nuriyev being placed on the international wanted list via Interpol after evading authorities.
Nuriyev’s location was eventually discovered in Germany, where he was detained. Measures are now being undertaken to facilitate his return to Azerbaijan. The Prosecutor General’s Office of Azerbaijan continues to work in collaboration with international authorities, including Interpol, to track down and repatriate wanted individuals.
