Brussels:Azerbaijani families of missing persons staged a protest in Schuman Square in Brussels, Belgium, on October 21. This demonstration followed a previous protest held on October 20 at Place du Luxembourg, in front of the European Parliament.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the protests were organized by the ‘Garabagh Missing Families’ Public Union. Demonstrators highlighted that Armenia has not clarified the fate of 4,010 missing Azerbaijanis and continues to withhold information about them. They emphasized the importance of resolving the issue of missing persons, especially as the peace agenda progresses.
The families also criticized the European Parliament, accusing it of consistently defending Armenia and failing to address the issue of missing Azerbaijanis. They described the institution’s stance as outdated in international relations.
Konul Behbudova, chair of the ‘Garabagh Missing Families’ Public Union, stated that protests concerning the missing persons issue would persist. During the event, a special installation featuring photographs, clothing, and envelopes belonging to the missing Azerbaijanis was displayed. Visitors showed their support by writing messages, tying memorial ribbons, and laying flowers.
