Azerbaijani Council of Elders Opens 9th Congress to Uphold National Heritage

Baku: The 9th Congress of the Council of Elders of Azerbaijan commenced with a focus on the enduring tradition of eldership, which is deeply rooted in the ancient moral and ethical values of the Azerbaijani people. This tradition is considered a fundamental pillar of the country’s national heritage, with respect for elders being a prominent value in Azerbaijani literature, as reflected in the epic Book of Dede Korkut.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the elders of Azerbaijan play a crucial role as preservers of moral and spiritual values, ensuring intergenerational continuity. They have been instrumental in continuing national statehood traditions and strengthening civic solidarity. The youth, inspired by the patriotism and self-sacrifice of the elders, significantly contributed to the nation’s victory in the Patriotic War, demonstrating the deep influence of the elders’ guidance.

The Congress highlighted the active participation of elders in various spheres of national life, emphasizing their role in countering the global erosion of national and spiritual values due to globalization and social media influences. The elders are tasked with raising youth in the spirit of national patriotism and guiding them along the right path, remaining vital in navigating the challenges posed by modern society.

Established at the end of the last century, the Council of Elders of Azerbaijan has significantly contributed to the country’s socio-political and humanitarian development. It continues to address public life issues and focus on the upbringing of the younger generation. The Congress aims to improve the Council’s activities and strengthen its role in the country’s socio-political landscape.

The event concluded with expressions of hope for successful discussions and decisions that will enhance the Council’s impact, along with wishes for the health and success of its members in their public activities.
