Ryazan:An Azerbaijani citizen is facing deportation from Russia, despite being married to a Russian woman, According to local diaspora. The issue has come to light following several administrative deportation decisions made by the police in Ryazan, which also imposed a 10-year entry ban on the individual.
According to Azeri-Press news agency, the Azerbaijani citizen challenged the deportation decision in court but was unsuccessful. His defense argued that the deportation was unlawful as he was married to a Russian citizen, supported his family, and was involved in raising his wife’s minor children.
The man’s legal representatives also mentioned his plans to adopt the children, asserting that the entry ban violated his right to family life. However, the court was not swayed by these arguments. A police representative noted that marriage alone does not establish strong ties with Russia. He pointed out that the man had not made efforts to legalize his status, had come to Russia for temporary work, lacked property, and had not paid taxes.
Ultimately, the court upheld the entry ban, stating that the man’s family circumstances were insufficient to overturn the decision. The court concluded that the intention to adopt his wife’s children did not present an exceptional circumstance warranting a reversal of the entry ban.
