Baku:Azerbaijan Railways is set to enhance its Baku-Tbilisi-Baku route by adding more services to accommodate increasing passenger demand for international travel.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the new services will commence on 1 November 2026, with four daily operations planned. This expansion will elevate the number of available passenger seats from 386 to 564, marking a nearly 50 percent increase. The initiative aims to offer passengers more cost-effective travel options, with standard class tickets starting at 36 AZN, presenting a budget-friendly alternative with prices up to 30 percent lower than current rates.
Ticket sales for these additional services will start on 2 October. The improved schedule offers passengers the flexibility to travel during the day in addition to overnight journeys, allowing them to select travel times that align with their personal plans. Under the new timetable, a daily train from Baku will depart at 09:10 and reach Tbilisi by 19:11, while the return journey will leave Tbilisi at 22:00 and arrive in Baku at 07:57 the next day.
To enhance the online ticket purchasing experience and prevent misuse, Azerbaijan Railways has introduced several improvements. Passengers must verify their account details using MyGov ID on the ADY website and mobile app. This measure ensures a secure purchase process. Account verification is necessary to buy tickets, and foreign citizens must provide their country of citizenship and verify their telephone number via OTP.
The expansion of the Baku-Tbilisi-Baku route has been made possible through extensive joint preparatory, technical, and organizational work. Azerbaijan Railways is committed to improving international passenger transportation services, ensuring comfortable and safe journeys, and meeting the growing demand.
