Baku: Measures taken for the rehabilitation and reintegration of victims related to human trafficking have been disclosed, APA reports. This was stated in the ‘Annual Report of the National Coordinator for Combating Human Trafficking,’ which was discussed at a joint meeting of the Human Rights, Legal Policy and State Building Committees of the Milli Majlis.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the report highlighted that in 2025, each victim was paid a one-time allowance of 700 manats. Furthermore, victims were provided with various forms of support, including shelter, medical care, social services, psychological help, and legal assistance.
The report detailed that 16 victims were directed to vocational courses, while assistance was given for the employment of 9 individuals. Additionally, identity cards were obtained for 6 persons, treatment was provided for 1 person, social assistance was received by 11 persons, and 23 individuals were returned to their families.
The report noted that human trafficking tends to spread in regions facing challenges such as poverty, unemployment, lack of education and information, corruption, and social issues. It was emphasized that in Azerbaijan, national and moral values, the family institution’s strength, and comprehensive state measures are crucial in combating human trafficking. The report concluded by stating that human trafficking crimes account for only 0.6% of recorded crimes in the country, indicating that this unlawful act is not considered characteristic for Azerbaijan.
