Azerbaijan Halts All Russian Cultural Events Amid Ethnic Tensions

Baku: Azerbaijan has announced the cancellation of all scheduled Russian cultural events, citing escalating ethnic tensions as the reason. Cultural events that were to be held in Azerbaijan, organized through both state and private enterprises in Russia, have been called off. This decision affects concerts, festivals, performances, exhibitions, and other planned activities.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Ministry of Culture reported that the cancellations are in response to a series of deliberate and extrajudicial killings and acts of violence committed by Russian law enforcement agencies against Azerbaijanis in the Yekaterinburg region of the Russian Federation. These incidents, which have been described as becoming systematic, have prompted Azerbaijan to take this significant cultural step.

Citizens who had purchased tickets for these events are advised to contact the relevant sales points and online platforms for ticket returns. This measure reflects growing concerns over the safety and well-being of Azerbaijanis amid rising ethnic violence in parts of Russia.
