Baku: Azerbaijan has successfully extradited Sekhran Ablaga Zeynalov, a Russian citizen born in 1995, to Russia for criminal prosecution. Zeynalov was internationally wanted for charges related to the unlawful acquisition and storage of large quantities of psychotropic substances without intent to sell.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the extradition was facilitated through ongoing cooperation between Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General’s Office and the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation. Zeynalov was located and detained in Azerbaijan in March, after which an arrest was made.
The extradition was conducted under the Convention ‘On Legal Assistance and Legal Relations in Civil, Family, and Criminal Matters’ dated October 7, 2002. Zeynalov was handed over to Russian authorities by a special convoy from the Penitentiary Service of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Justice. This marks a successful collaboration between the two countries in combating crime.
