Azerbaijan Emphasizes Anti-Torture Efforts at UN Assembly

Accra:The importance of combating torture and eliminating impunity was underscored by Azerbaijan at the United Nations. Shahriyar Hajiyev, First Secretary of the Permanent Mission of Azerbaijan to the United Nations, addressed the Third Committee of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly Interactive Dialogue, highlighting Azerbaijan’s commitment to investigating and prosecuting serious offences, especially those related to torture and inhuman treatment during the former conflict.

He detailed Azerbaijan’s adherence to its obligations under the Convention against Torture and other international agreements, with regular reports on their implementation.
