Azerbaijan Dispatches First Oil Product Shipment to Armenia from Boyuk Kesik Station

Aghstafa: Azerbaijan has initiated the export of oil products to Armenia, marking the first shipment since President Ilham Aliyev lifted restrictions on goods transit between the two countries. This move comes after Azerbaijan’s decision in October to remove limitations imposed during the period of occupation.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, on December 19, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) successfully dispatched a batch of locally produced petroleum products to Armenia. The shipment consisted of 1,220 tons of AI-95 motor gasoline, which was loaded into 22 railway wagons. The freight train, operated by Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, departed from the Boyuk Kesik station, with plans for the cargo to travel through Georgia en route to Armenia.

The agreement facilitating this shipment was reached during discussions between Azerbaijan’s Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev and Armenia’s Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan. Their meeting took place in Gabala on November 28, paving the way for the resumption of oil product exports between the two nations.
