Baku:New requirements are being formulated in Azerbaijan for the safe use of artificial intelligence technologies within government agencies, as announced by Nadir Novruzov, Head of the Department at the State Service for Special Communication and Information Security, during the 8th Summit of IT Leaders of Government Agencies in Baku.
According to Azeri-Press news agency, these requirements are expected to be adopted soon, with plans for their implementation in government agencies to commence shortly.
Novruzov stated that subsequent steps will involve the adoption of regulatory rules and requirements concerning ethical artificial intelligence, alongside efforts to implement natural language processing models in government agencies. The Azerbaijan Standardization Institute (AZSTAND) has already introduced five standards related to artificial intelligence, covering ethics, governance, impact, auditing, and testing.
The Cabinet of Ministers has identified 11 priority areas in artificial intelligence for the year 2026 and has appointed relevant government agencies to oversee these areas. Efforts are currently underway to implement various AI solutions at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Justice, and the Ministry of Agriculture.
Novruzov highlighted that while some government agencies have already started implementing AI solutions, others are preparing to do so. Supercomputers have been procured and installed at the Ministry of Economy and are available for use by government agencies. Additionally, supercomputers are being installed at AzInTelecom for use by various agencies.
