Baku:Azerbaijan has announced a delay in the implementation of co-payments under its compulsory health insurance system, pushing the introduction date back to January 1, 2030.
According to Azeri-Press news agency, the decision to postpone the co-payments, originally scheduled for January 1, 2027, is part of a proposed amendment to the Law “On Medical Insurance.” The amendment reflects the government’s intention to delay the requirement for insured individuals to make co-payments when accessing specialist medical services without prior primary healthcare consultations.
The existing law mandates that insured persons must pay a co-payment for direct consultations with specialist doctors. The implementation of this provision will now be postponed for another three years, extending the deadline to January 1, 2030.
