Baku: The Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, received a delegation led by Professor Erhan Afyoncu, the Rector of the National Defense University of the Republic of Trkiye. The Turkish delegation is visiting Azerbaijan to participate in a High-Level Dialogue Meeting between the National Defense Universities of Azerbaijan and Trkiye.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Turkish delegation began their visit by paying respects at the graves of Azerbaijani National Leader Heydar Aliyev and renowned ophthalmologist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva in the Alley of Honor. They also visited the Alley of Martyrs and the Turkish Martyrs’ Cemetery, where they laid flowers to honor the deceased.
During the meeting at the Ministry of Defense, Colonel General Hasanov welcomed the Turkish guests and expressed his satisfaction with their visit to Azerbaijan. He emphasized the ongoing military cooperation between Azerbaijan and Trkiye, particularly in the military education sector.
Professor Afyoncu expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality and noted the positive impact of Azerbaijani-Turkish relations in science and education. He highlighted the role these relations play in strengthening the national personnel potential of both countries’ armies.
The First Deputy Minister of Defense and Chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijan Army, Colonel General Karim Valiyev, also met with the Turkish delegation. He discussed the mutual benefits of the upcoming High-Level Dialogue Meeting for military educational institutions in both nations. The discussions covered the current state and future prospects for expanding cooperation in military education.
The meeting concluded with a broad exchange of views on topics of mutual interest between the two sides.
