Azerbaijan and Algeria Discuss Joint Commission Initiative


Baku: Within the framework of ADF 2026, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Bayramov Jeyhun, engaged in discussions with Ahmed Attaf, the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, as reported by the MFA on its X account.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the meeting focused on the bilateral and multilateral cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and Algeria. A significant point of discussion was the establishment of a Joint Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation, which is seen as a pivotal step in enhancing bilateral relations.



The discussions also covered cooperation and mutual support within international organizations such as the UN, OIC, and NAM. This is within the context of Azerbaijan’s current chairmanship of CICA and its role as the host of the OIC Summit next year.



The meeting emphasized the importance of de-escalation in the Middle East, the strengthening of the ceasefire, and the resolution of conflicts through diplomatic means.
