Donetsk: Arda Turan has officially been named the head coach of Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk, APA reports. Turan recently vacated his position as manager of Eypspor, a team competing in the Turkish second division.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Turan’s illustrious playing career included a six-year stint with Atletico Madrid, followed by a period at Barcelona, before eventually returning to Turkey. As the new manager of Shakhtar Donetsk, Turan will aim to guide the team back to the top of the Ukrainian Premier League, a position they have not held in recent years.
This season, Shakhtar concluded their campaign in third place, trailing behind Dynamo Kyiv and Oleksandriya. Turan’s appointment is seen as a strategic move to revitalize the team’s performance and reclaim their dominance in the league.
