Baku: The ‘APA Journalism School,’ a project by APA Media Group, has launched its next training course starting today, APA reports. The school aims to provide an opportunity for aspiring journalists to learn the intricacies of the profession through a comprehensive training program.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the school’s trainers include Honored Journalist Gabil Abbasoglu and the Vice-Rector of the Azerbaijan Television (AzTV) Academy, head of the Media and Information Literacy Center, Ph.D. Almaz Mahmud. These seasoned professionals will guide participants through both theoretical and practical aspects of journalism.
The Editor-in-Chief of APA Media Group, Nurshan Guliyev, emphasized the primary objective of the school is to create learning opportunities for those interested in journalism. He highlighted that several students from the previous training course are currently collaborating with APA Media Group. The program not only focuses on skill development but also offers job opportunities for committed participants. At the completion of the course, students will receive certificates that could significantly enhance their professional profiles.
Gabil Abbasoglu pointed out that nearly half of the graduates from the previous session were employed in various media organizations. He stressed the importance of discipline and consistent participation in the training, which combines theoretical lessons with practical reporting assignments in a real editorial environment. Abbasoglu revealed that 186 individuals applied for the current course, from which a select group was chosen, underscoring the competitive nature of the program.
Almaz Mahmud expressed his satisfaction with the establishment of the APA Journalism School, noting its significance as a training ground comparable to traditional universities. The school serves as an intensive alternative to a four-year journalism degree, offering a focused, short-term course that equips students with essential skills.
The APA Journalism School, which began operations in November of last year, offers a three-month training program. Of the 26 people selected for the previous course, 21 successfully graduated. The current training sessions will be held thrice weekly, featuring insights from established journalists, bloggers, and new media experts alongside the permanent trainers.
