2026 European Cup in Rhythmic Gymnastics Kicks Off in Baku


Baku: The opening ceremony of the European Cup in Rhythmic Gymnastics was held in Baku at the National Gymnastics Arena. The ceremony showcased the presentation of flags from the participating countries.



According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Farid Gayibov, Minister of Youth and Sports and President of European Gymnastics, delivered an address emphasizing the development of sports in Azerbaijan. He mentioned Baku’s selection as the World Sports Capital for 2026 and its history of hosting international gymnastics events.



The European Cup was officially declared open, and attendees listened to the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The ceremony also included an artistic program featuring a dance performance by rhythmic gymnasts.



A total of 194 athletes from 31 countries are competing for medals, comprising 137 seniors and 57 juniors. Azerbaijan is represented by 10 gymnasts at the event.



The European Cup will continue until May 3.
