Baku: Former Swedish international player Zlatan Ibrahimovic is the winner of the 2025 UEFA President’s Award, according to UEFA’s official website.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Zlatan’s influence extends far beyond his football career, which is marked by numerous trophies and records. He was known for his confidence, spectacular goals, and his ability to enhance every team he played for. Off the field, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been actively involved in humanitarian efforts, making significant donations to hospitals and supporting children in need. He has also used his influential platforms to raise awareness and mobilize resources for causes such as combating hunger, promoting education, and supporting disaster relief efforts. His impact makes him not only a sporting icon but also a figure of inspiration beyond football.
UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin stated, “Zlatan is known as the ultimate competitor, a natural-born winner, and a pop-culture icon. But above all, he’s a remarkable human being – a golden boy who never forgot his roots, quietly putting compassion before recognition, always reaching out to those in need. I’m very proud that this year’s award found its way into his hands.”
Zlatan Ibrahimovic expressed his gratitude by saying, “To receive this award is a big honour, I want to thank the UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin for this. It means I did something in my career or else I wouldn’t get it, I’m super happy. I was lucky to play with big players and big clubs. It made me the person I am today. I’m just grateful and thankful.”
Since 1998, UEFA’s annual President’s Award has recognized outstanding achievements that transcend the sport. At the start of each new European season, the UEFA president acknowledges professional excellence and exemplary personal qualities, on and off the field.
