Yekaterinburg Court Extends Detention of Bakir Safarov


Yekaterinburg: The Yekaterinburg court has issued a new decision regarding Bakir Safarov. The court has extended the detention period for Safarov, imposing a 22-day detention and sending him to the investigative prison until July 19.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the trial of Bakir Safarov began following his detention during an operation carried out against Azerbaijanis by Russian law enforcement officers in Yekaterinburg on June 27. The court is deliberating on extending the three-day pre-trial detention initially imposed on Safarov on June 29.



Additionally, the trial of another detained Azerbaijani, Ahliman Ganjiev, is scheduled for today. The court will decide whether to extend the 72-hour pre-trial detention initially imposed on him. Meanwhile, the trial of Shahid Lalayev, also detained in connection with the case, is scheduled for tomorrow.
