Aghdam: Under the leadership of Kolja Sporin, head of the Extreme Traveler International Congress (ETIC) club, world-renowned international travelers visited Aghdam as part of their trip to Karabakh, APA’s Karabakh bureau reports. The group, consisting of individuals from the USA, the UK, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Sweden, Ireland, and Portugal, included Charles Veley from the USA, who is the founder of the Most Traveled People (MTP) international travelers network.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the travelers embarked on a car tour around Aghdam before visiting the Aghdam Juma Mosque. During their visit, an employee of the President’s special representative provided them with detailed information about the mosque. It was highlighted that the religious monument suffered destruction and looting by the Armenian army during the occupation period, with pigs being kept inside the building. Following the city’s liberation from occupation, major restoration works were carried out, allowing the mosque to reopen for use.
The itinerary for the travelers included a continuation of their journey to Khankendi city after their visit to Aghdam. The delegation plans to travel along the Agdam-Khankendi-Lachin-Shusha-Fuzuli route over a span of two days.
The trips aim to promote the liberated territories within the framework of “black tourism” and to showcase the extensive construction and restoration efforts. International travelers’ trips to Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur have been organized 14 times from 2021 to 2025 through major international travelers’ clubs worldwide. This marks the 15th trip of a similar nature.
