Vice-President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva and Arzu Aliyeva View ‘Free to Dream’ Exhibition

Baku: Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva and Arzu Aliyeva, President of the Baku Media Center, recently viewed the “Free to Dream” exhibition. The exhibition is a part of the 2025 edition of “Her Art in Action,” an annual festival dedicated to highlighting female artistic practices, presented by the Union of Artists of Azerbaijan in collaboration with the VarYox culture and art platform.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the “Free to Dream” exhibition is running from March 9 to April 6. It focuses on the ways women imagine, visualize, and express their dreams, both personal and collective. The festival creates a space for dialogue, reflection, and artistic exploration through a dynamic public program and exhibition.

The exhibition, curated by Lesley Gray and Ayna Moazzen, features works from 23 Azerbaijani artists selected through an open call, alongside contributions from three international artists and an international curator. The works include paintings, video works, performances, and installations, reflecting a range of artistic approaches and perspectives. The exhibition explores how imagination can be both a site of possibility and constraint, influenced by personal histories, social realities, and cultural expectations.

In addition to the exhibition, “Her Art in Action” continues to support artistic development and exchange through workshops, portfolio reviews, and discussions with visiting artists and curators. These programs offer emerging and mid-career artists a unique opportunity to refine their practice, gain new insights, and connect with local and international art communities. Supported by the Union of Artists of Azerbaijan, Pasha Travel, Nar, and the Embassy of the Netherlands, “Her Art in Action” remains a vital platform for amplifying women’s voices in the arts.
