UN Representative Highlights FAO’s Commitment to Azerbaijan’s Climate Goals

Baku: FAO proudly supports Azerbaijan, said Viorel Gutu, Regional Representative for Europe and Central Asia of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Assistant Director-General, on the third day of the event held within the framework of the “Baku Climate Action Week”, APA reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Gutu emphasized that the FAO will continue to be a stable partner in implementing Azerbaijan’s climate vision. He outlined the need to build a climate-resilient agricultural system and highlighted key areas such as digitalization of agriculture, water loss prevention, food waste management, afforestation, and food security.

Gutu further explained that addressing these areas is crucial. Reducing losses and gaps in the supply chain not only ensures adequate food supply but also contributes to lowering greenhouse gas emissions and eases the strain on land and water resources.
