Kuala lumpur: Together we will change the world. But we cannot do it alone, which is why everyone is needed, Jonathan Oriki Some, a member of the UN-Habitat Youth Advisory Board, said at the closing ceremony of the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), APA reports.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Jonathan Oriki Some emphasized the need for collective and joint action in addressing urban development challenges. He highlighted the dire situation faced by urban children, noting that one in four grows up in slums. The issues related to urban development are having a detrimental impact on the future and dreams of millions of young people. Some children and youth are growing up without access to normal opportunities.
Jonathan Oriki Some stressed that young people view housing as crucial to their dignity, security, and sense of belonging. He asserted that housing should be integrated with education, healthcare, safety, and opportunities for youth. With the expectation that 70 percent of the population will be young people by 2050, his call for action is not only about addressing present challenges but also about shaping a future that young people aspire to.
