Ukrainian Millionaire Oleg Bakinski Released Under House Arrest

Baku: Oleg Krapivin, a Ukrainian millionaire known as ‘Oleg Bakinski’ in criminal circles, has been released under house arrest following his detention in Azerbaijan on hooliganism charges, APA reports. This development occurred during the latest hearing at the Baku Court on Grave Crimes, overseen by Judge Elnur Nuriyev.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the court session reviewed a request from Krapivin’s lawyer, Kheyransa Babayeva, to advance the hearing due to Krapivin’s health concerns. Babayeva petitioned for the replacement of Krapivin’s pre-trial detention with house arrest, highlighting his need for treatment for hypertension. Despite opposition from the victim’s lawyer, who argued against Krapivin’s release, the prosecutor deferred the decision to the court’s judgement.

Ultimately, the court approved the lawyer’s petition, allowing Oleg Krapivin to be released from the courtroom under house arrest. Krapivin had been arrested in Baku last year on charges of hooliganism against a Russian citizen, under Article 221.3 of the Criminal Code, which involves committing hooliganism with weapons or weapon-like objects and includes acts of violence or property damage. Initially, a pre-trial detention measure was enforced against him. Subsequently, he faced additional charges under Article 178.4 for fraud causing significant financial damage.

Along with Krapivin, Konstantin Antonovich Kucher, a former Deputy Minister of Defense Industry for Aviation Affairs in Ukraine, has also been found guilty in the case. The identified victims include “Aviazapchast” JSC, “Promyshlennye Postavki Kazakhstan” LLC, and Zakharenkov Valeriy Nikolayevich.
