Ukrainian Ambassador Highlights Importance of Azerbaijan’s Humanitarian Aid Amid Crisis

Baku: Ukrainian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Yuriy Husyev emphasized the critical role of Azerbaijan’s humanitarian aid during challenging times, declaring the nation’s contributions as unforgettable. “Today, first of all, I want to express our solidarity, because today is January 20 – the Day of Black January. We always stand in solidarity with the people of Azerbaijan, we are always with you and we always support the territorial integrity, sovereignty and freedom of Azerbaijan,” Husyev told journalists.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Ukrainian ambassador acknowledged the support extended by Azerbaijan, particularly the recent humanitarian aid package crucial for the winter season following attacks on Ukraine’s electrical infrastructure by Russia. Husyev expressed profound gratitude towards President Ilham Aliyev and the Azerbaijani people for their unwavering support.

The latest shipment of electrical equipment intended for humanitarian aid by Azerbaijan has been dispatched from Sumgayit Technologies Park. This aid was facilitated by the Ministry of Energy following the directive of President Ilham Aliyev dated January 16, 2026.

The humanitarian cargo comprises 12 low-voltage panels, 11 generators, 5 transformers, and 27,000 meters of cables and wires. The shipment, valued at 1 million US dollars, was organized at the request of the Ukrainian side.

Azerbaijan’s consistent support for Ukraine, particularly in the electricity supply domain, is noteworthy. The total cost of humanitarian assistance provided by Azerbaijan to Ukraine, which also includes recovery and reconstruction aid, has surpassed 45 million US dollars.
