Baku: The International Secretariat of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA) issued a statement on 31 March – Day of Genocide of Azerbaijanis: The statement reads: ‘The International Secretariat of TURKPA commemorates the victims of the mass killings perpetrated against the Azerbaijani people in 1918 on the Day of the Azerbaijani Genocide, 31 March.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, these acts, carried out across various regions of Azerbaijan on the grounds of ethnic cleansing, resulted in the deaths of thousands of people and stand as one of the gravest crimes etched into the collective memory of the nation. The atrocities committed against civilians also caused harm to the cultural and spiritual heritage of the Azerbaijani people.
On the 108th anniversary of these events, the International Secretariat of TURKPA condemns these acts and pays tribute to the memory of all those who lost their lives, with sorrow and respect.
