ASHGABAT: Turkmenistan and Germany reviewed ongoing efforts to develop bilateral cooperation, Trend reports.
According to an official source, this topic was discussed during a meeting in Ashgabat between the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, and the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany to Turkmenistan, Bernd Heinze.
Highlighting the positive nature of political and diplomatic relations, the head of state noted with satisfaction that Turkmenistan and Germany successfully cooperate not only on a bilateral but also on a multilateral basis.
The parties noted that another priority vector of bilateral relations is partnership in the trade and economic spheres.
In this regard, they noted effective cooperation in such important areas as industry, agriculture, banking, transport and communication complexes, etc.
At the same time, they stressed that in recent years, cooperation between the two countries has been successfully developing within the framework of the
‘Central Asia + Germany’ dialogue, facilitating the exchange of views on issues of mutual interest.
During the conversation, which took place in a constructive manner, the importance of further development of established cultural and humanitarian ties, which play an extremely important role in strengthening interstate relations, bringing people closer, and enriching cultures, was also noted.
Meanwhile, Germany actively supports initiatives to strengthen economic ties with the Central Asian states through financing projects on infrastructure modernization, trade, investment, energy, transport, and ecology.
The trade turnover between Turkmenistan and Germany exceeded 1.1 billion euros from the beginning of 2018 through the end of 2023.
