Trkiye’s Tourism Revenues Surpass $65 Billion in Record-Breaking Year


Ankara: Trkiye’s tourism sector has reached unprecedented heights with revenues exceeding $65 billion last year. The country welcomed 64 million tourists, marking a historic achievement, according to Trkiye’s Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Minister Ersoy highlighted the sustainable growth in the tourism sector, reinforcing Trkiye’s position in the international market. He also announced an ambitious target for 2026, aiming for tourism revenues of $68 billion.



The minister cited data from the United Nations World Tourism Organization, showcasing Trkiye’s emergence as a formidable global player in tourism. In 2017, Trkiye ranked 8th in terms of tourist arrivals worldwide, climbing to 4th place by 2024. In terms of revenue, the country advanced from 15th place in 2017 to 7th place in 2024.



Ersoy identified the Russian Federation, Germany, and the United Kingdom as Trkiye’s largest tourism markets, with 6.90 million, 6.75 million, and 4.27 million tourists respectively. He also pointed out the success of initiatives such as the ‘Heritage for the Future’ vision and the Night Museums projects.



Additionally, the ‘mini-series’ model in Trkiye’s promotional strategy has garnered global success. A single episode of the series ‘An Istanbul Story’ achieved 32 million views, underscoring the effectiveness of the strategy.
