BAKU: TotalEnergies has taken another step in expanding its long-term liquefied natural gas (LNG) business, announcing a Heads of Agreement (HoA) with Trkiye’s state-owned energy company BOTAS. Under the agreement, TotalEnergies will supply 1.1 million tons of LNG annually to Trkiye for a period of ten years, starting in 2027, Trend reports.
This partnership solidifies TotalEnergies’ long-term presence in the Turkish LNG market, positioning the company to play a key role in the country’s energy transition. Natural gas is increasingly seen as a bridge fuel, helping to stabilize renewable energy sources while reducing reliance on coal for electricity generation.
Gregory Joffroy, Senior Vice President of LNG at TotalEnergies, expressed his optimism about the deal. ‘We are pleased to initiate a new long-term collaboration with BOTAS, a key partner for our company in Trkiye. This agreement allows us to secure consistent sales and reduce exposure to spot market gas price fluctuations,’ Joffroy stated.
