Guba: The Tenge Canyon, renowned for its remarkable natural beauty, stands as a premier destination on the Guba-Afurja tourist route. Located along the banks of the Velvelechay River, the canyon offers not only stunning landscapes but also well-developed tourism and catering facilities, making it a favored spot for visitors.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the canyon stretches 500 meters in length and is 50 meters wide, featuring steep walls cloaked in lush forests. Visitors to the area can explore the cave that once sheltered Gachag Mayil, a figure known for his resistance against Armenians and Bolsheviks. Iron stairs have been installed to facilitate access to the cave on the rock face, where tourists can appreciate the panoramic views and learn about Gachag Mayil’s legacy through informative boards etched into the rocks.
In recent years, the Guba-Afurja route has seen a surge in popularity among tourists. The route captivates travelers with the enchanting mountain villages of Sabets, Tengealty, and Afurja, alongside the pristine landscapes of Guba and the famed Afurja waterfall.
