Bishkek:A meeting of the Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA) took place today in Bishkek, where Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis, addressed the gathering.
According to Azeri-Press news agency, Sahiba Gafarova emphasized the significant role of TURKPA in serving the interests of peoples connected by shared historical, cultural, and spiritual roots through parliamentary diplomacy. She highlighted the importance placed by the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan on collaboration within TURKPA.
The Azerbaijani parliamentary delegation has been actively involved in TURKPA commission meetings, events on various topics, the drafting of model laws, and election observation missions. Furthermore, the Milli Majlis has taken initiatives to bolster TURKPA’s international activities and foster cooperation with other interparliamentary bodies.
Gafarova also commended the efforts of Ramil Hasan, TURKPA’s new Secretary General, in enhancing the organization’s activities and relationships. She assured that the Milli Majlis will continue to support the TURKPA Secretariat, which is based in Baku.
The meeting also featured speeches from the speakers of the parliaments of TURKPA member countries, who shared their perspectives on the topics under discussion.
