Baku: As part of her working visit to Serbia, Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis, met with Prime Minister of the Republic of Mozambique, Maria Benvinda Levi. The meeting emphasized the current state of relations between Azerbaijan and Mozambique and explored opportunities for further development.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Speaker Sahiba Gafarova highlighted Azerbaijan’s commitment to fostering relationships with African countries. She discussed the significance of cooperation within the Non-Aligned Movement, noting the initiatives undertaken by Azerbaijan during its four-year chairmanship. Gafarova also mentioned the efforts of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, established at the behest of Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev, and the achievements realized under Azerbaijan’s leadership.
The dialogue further delved into the current status of bilateral relations across various sectors, with both parties exchanging views on enhancing mutual ties. Gafarova recalled her earlier meeting with Margarida Talapa, Speaker of the Assembly of Mozambique, during Talapa’s visit to Azerbaijan in June for the 20th session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States. Gafarova underscored the importance of collaborative efforts and mutual support within international organizations.
Prime Minister Maria Benvinda Levi expressed satisfaction with the relationship between Mozambique and Azerbaijan. She extended her gratitude for the opportunities provided to Mozambican students and diplomats through programs in Azerbaijan, as well as the support received during the COVID-19 pandemic. Levi also acknowledged the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network as a vital platform for addressing crucial issues, highlighting Mozambique’s active participation in its activities.
The meeting concluded with discussions on potential collaboration in parliamentary, educational, humanitarian, and other domains, signaling a shared commitment to strengthening the ties between Azerbaijan and Mozambique.
