Speaker: Anniversary of Heydar Aliyev’s Rise to Power Marks Continuation of Historic Mission by Ilham Aliyev


Baku: Today marks the 56th anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev coming to power in Azerbaijan in 1969, the Speaker of the Milli Majlis, Sahiba Gafarova, said during today’s parliamentary session, APA reports.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Speaker noted that the historic mission started by the National Leader is being continued today by President Ilham Aliyev. She emphasized that Azerbaijan has gained significant influence over a broad geographic area and highlighted the liberation of Azerbaijani territories from occupation as a pivotal moment that has ushered in a new era of development for the nation.



MP Azer Badamov remarked that July 14 is a critical date in the history of the Azerbaijani people. He pointed out that this date marks the beginning of a transformative era when Heydar Aliyev first assumed political power in Azerbaijan. Badamov praised the enduring legacy of Heydar Aliyev, highlighting how his dedicated service to the people is intricately connected to the nation’s fate. He further stated that President Ilham Aliyev, who carries forward Heydar Aliyev’s legacy, plays a crucial role in shaping the trajectory of modern and future world history. He asserted that the people of Azerbaijan find their sole refuge in their “Victorious Leader.”



Deputy Chairman of the Parliament’s Committee on Defense, Security and Anti-Corruption, Gudrat Hasanguliyev, underscored the importance of learning from Heydar Aliyev’s experience in governance even today. He lauded Heydar Aliyev as a remarkable statesman who successfully united the Azerbaijani people to tackle significant challenges. Hasanguliyev also noted that Heydar Aliyev managed to achieve national unity despite external pressures on Azerbaijan.
