SPACE Academy Honored with International APRSAF Space Achievement Award

Bangkok:Baku SPACE Academy of Azercosmos has received the prestigious APRSAF Space Achievement Award, acknowledging its significant contributions to the space sector and its efforts in advancing space education and human capital development in the region.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the award was presented to SPACE Academy representatives during the 32nd session of the Asia-Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum (APRSAF) in Bangkok, Thailand. The award certificate highlighted the Academy’s impactful activities in the space sector and its role in inspiring the next generation of space professionals and regional leaders.

The APRSAF Space Achievement Award signifies international recognition of SPACE Academy’s initiatives in space education and public awareness, as well as its efforts to engage young people in the space sector. The award underscores the value placed by the international space community on the Academy’s work to date and its initiatives to foster human capital development.

Since 2024, SPACE Academy has played a pivotal role in facilitating Azerbaijan’s involvement in four international space education projects under APRSAF. These projects aim to enhance access to space sciences for schoolchildren and young people, develop their practical skills, and increase Azerbaijan’s participation in global space education networks.

Azerbaijan’s broader strategy to strengthen relations with Asian nations includes expanding cooperation within APRSAF. The country’s engagement in the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) also supports this cooperation and fosters multilateral dialogue. The 7th CICA Summit, held in Baku on 15 October 2026, exemplifies Azerbaijan’s dedication to dialogue, mutual trust, and multilateral cooperation among Asian countries.

APRSAF, established in Tokyo in 1993, is an international platform aimed at promoting space activity cooperation across the Asia-Pacific region. The Forum, which rotates its location among host countries, includes 844 leading organizations from 52 countries and 32 international organizations. Its focus areas include satellite applications, space exploration, space education, space industry, and space policy, diplomacy, and law.
