Slovakia and Azerbaijan Collaborate on Defense Technology and UAVs

Baku:Slovak Defense Minister Slovakia is actively engaging with Azerbaijan in a £210 million framework agreement for the acquisition of 100 automatic mortars, marking a significant milestone in defense cooperation. The first Azerbaijani-made automatic mortar will be showcased at ADEX, highlighting the progress of this partnership.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, the collaboration between the two countries involves a phased approach to technology transfer and production. Initially, one-third of the contract will be fulfilled by Slovakian factories, with subsequent production phases occurring partly in Azerbaijan. The ultimate goal is to fully manufacture the products in Azerbaijan, completing the technology transfer.

The agreement also paves the way for future joint projects in the defense sector, emphasizing technology transfer and joint production. Slovakia is particularly interested in Azerbaijan’s advanced drone technology and aims to reach a concrete agreement on this front soon.

Discussions are underway between the Slovak Ministry of Defense and Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defense Industry regarding the establishment of a joint defense enterprise. This potential venture would further solidify the defense partnership, with talks expected to continue in upcoming meetings.
