Single institution to be established to solve recognition problem among Turkic states’ universities

“At the 7th meeting of Education Ministers of the Organization of Turkic States held today, we put forward concrete proposals. These proposals are issues raised by the member states. Among these proposals, the first is the creation of an academic database of countries that are members of the Organization of Turkic States. This proposal includes the collection of information of higher education institutions in a single center,” Erol Ozvar, President of the Council of Higher Education of Trkiye, told journalists, APA reports.

He said that member states will be able to obtain accurate information about universities:

“Secondly, it was proposed to create a joint institution that will deal with the procedures of adaptation and recognition of universities. There are joint activities between universities in the Turkic world. Also, although student activity is at a high level, there are serious problems related to recognition in this area. Together with the ministers, we evaluated the idea of ??creating an institut
ion that would solve these problems. Education representatives of each of the member states welcomed this idea.”

He noted that it is important to have a quality assurance agency accepted by the member countries of the Organization of Turkic States: “We, as Turkic states, must define common standards of quality assurance. All representatives gave a positive opinion to the idea of ??establishing an agency that will operate in this regard. According to the final decision, commissions will be created for the implementation of these proposals, and the final opinion of the commission will be presented to the country’s leadership.
