Shusha Hosts ECO Experts Meeting on Future Tourism Development Agenda

Shusha: On April 28, the 9th meeting of the High-Level Expert Group on Tourism of the Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO) was held in Shusha, Azerbaijan. The event saw participation from delegations of ECO member states, tourism experts, and representatives from relevant institutions.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, participants in the meeting reviewed preparations for the upcoming 7th ECO Ministerial Meeting on Tourism, discussed the implementation status of decisions made at the 6th meeting, and examined documents submitted for approval. The selection of the ECO Tourism Capital for 2030 was also a key point on the agenda.

The meeting featured discussions on the draft ‘Shusha Declaration’, which is anticipated to be adopted at the 7th Ministerial Meeting on Tourism. Participants exchanged views and submitted proposals regarding the text of the document, aiming to shape a comprehensive future tourism development agenda.

The outcomes of the 9th meeting will be included in the agenda of the 7th Tourism Ministers Meeting, which is scheduled for April 29. Additionally, Shusha was designated as the ECO Tourism Capital for 2026 at the 5th ECO Ministerial Meeting on Tourism, held in 2023.
