Shahin Mustafayev: Transit Cargo Transportation from Azerbaijan to Armenia Reaches 26,000 Tons

Baku: To date, approximately 26,000 tons of cargo have been transported in transit from the Russian Federation to the Republic of Armenia through the territory of Azerbaijan, Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, Shahin Mustafayev, said during his speech at a meeting of the Azerbaijan-Russia Business Council.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Mustafayev stated that the main part of these cargoes consisted of wheat and fertilizers. He highlighted effective cooperation with Russia in the financial sector, noting that the share of national currencies in bilateral trade settlements is increasing. Currently, this accounts for 42% of export operations and 83% of import operations.

Azerbaijan’s tourism sector shows potential for development. The implementation of the joint roadmap for 2024-2026 and active aviation connections contribute to the growth of tourist exchanges. Russian citizens form a significant portion of foreign tourists visiting Azerbaijan, particularly drawn to the country’s tourism offerings.

Specifically, the ‘Sea Breeze’ city-resort project on the Caspian Sea coast offers modern tourism infrastructure, attracting vacationers. Sea Breeze Resort hosted over 100,000 guests during the 2025 summer season, with 78% being Russian tourists. Tourist flow is expected to increase by at least 30% this year.
