Baku: The Shah Deniz gas-condensate field serves a number of countries from Azerbaijan to the heart of Europe, Colin Allan, BP’s vice president for finance for Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Trkiye, said while speaking at the 30th Anniversary Baku Energy Forum held in Baku, APA-Economics reports.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Shah Deniz field has proven itself as a reliable gas supplier, thereby significantly strengthening regional energy security. Colin Allan highlighted the field’s reliability, noting that last year, the production capacities’ reliability level exceeded 99%.
“This is an important indicator,” Allan stated. He further explained that the field provides diversification of supplies in the markets it serves and, in some cases, holds a significant share. “For example, supplies to Italy account for about 16% of its total gas market,” he emphasized.
