Aghdara: The search operation is ongoing in the Aghdara region of Azerbaijan following the uncovering of a mass grave. Zaur Ismayilov, a member of the State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages, and Missing Persons, highlighted the strategic significance of the area where the remains were discovered. He explained that it was a focal point for combat, with control changing hands multiple times during the conflict. The last significant battle in January 1993 resulted in the deaths of several Azerbaijani servicemen.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the remains of over 10 Azerbaijani servicemen have been recovered from the site so far. Ismayilov emphasized that the search efforts will continue, with plans to conduct a thorough examination of the area. He noted that further excavations could potentially reveal more remains, as the lower layers of the site have yet to be fully explored.
