Baku: It is planned to transfer compensation by Russia for the downing of an AZAL plane soon. As a result of negotiations between the governments of Azerbaijan and Russia, an agreement has already been reached on compensation from Russia to the heirs of Azerbaijani citizens who lost their lives in the accident, Samir Rzayev, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL), said this in an interview with APA News Agency and Azerbaijan State Television (AZTV) when answering a question about the shooting down of an AZAL plane in December 2024.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Samir Rzayev added that the damage caused to AZAL as a result of the accident will also be compensated by the Russian government. “In general, it is planned that the allocated funds will be transferred by Russia to the Azerbaijani side in the near future. Then, what remains for us is to pay these funds to the heirs of the deceased.”
