Moscow: Russia is prepared to restore humanitarian relations with Azerbaijan on terms of equality, as stated by Mikhail Shvydkoy, the Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for International Cultural Cooperation. This announcement was reported by RIA Novosti, according to APA’s Moscow bureau.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Shvydkoy emphasized that there is no substantial reason preventing the restoration of cultural relations between Russia and Azerbaijan. He stated, “We have always said that Russia is ready for everything that its partners are ready for. We are equally ready to the extent that our Azerbaijani friends and colleagues are ready to restore relations in the fields of humanitarian relations, science, education, and culture.” This reflects a mutual interest in re-establishing connections that span across various sectors, including science and education.
Shvydkoy highlighted the historical ties between Russia and Azerbaijan, noting that the two nations share a centuries-old history and are bonded by common spiritual and moral values which underpin societal structures in both countries. He remarked, “It seems to me that we have no deep reason not to fully restore our relations,” underscoring the potential for rebuilding and strengthening the cultural and humanitarian links between the countries.
